BadEvan needs your help! As many of you know, I have been suffering from Sever Ulcerative Colitis for a couple of years now. The medication I’m on was never supposed to be a long term treatment. Very high doses of steroids. They are taking their toll on my body. The side effects are becoming just as bad as the disease. But if I go off the meds I end up in the hospital for a week or two. Needing heavier steroids, antibiotics, morphine and blood transfusions the whole time. No fun at all!

The doctors have said that they can’t keep me on that treatment any longer. It’s time to operate! I have to have a complete Colectomy. You know, they go in and take out your entire large intestine, colon and rectum. That’s why I haven’t written anything in the past 15 days. I’ve been pretty down about the whole thing. On top of that mental crap, I physically feel like a bag of poop.

On April 4th the Philadelphia Gay News ran an interview with Presidential hopeful, Senator Hillary Clinton. The Q&A touched on many issues important to the GLBT community. Such as DOMA, gays in the military, services for GLBT youth and seniors, benefits for GLBT couples, positive GLBT lesson plans in schools and the murder of gay men through out the Middle East, Africa and Asia. Senator Clinton’s responses were nothing new. They were everything we want to hear from our candidate. What we didn’t hear was Senator Barack Obama’s opinion on the issues.



I know what you’re thinking ‘how could such a prestiges paper like the PGN forget to include Senator Obama in a Q&A on GLBT issues?’ Well, the 32 year old publication didn’t forget the Senator from Illinois. Senator Obama chose not to take part in the article. Many of his advisers and finical bakers, including Senator Bob Casey, supported the newspaper’s interview request. But Obama still declined.

People arriving to the Indianapolis headquarters of American Trans Air (ATA) this morning were greeted by police. They were escorted through the building to gather their personal items and then instructed to leave. They were informed that the company had filed for Bankruptcy and would not be reopening.

ATA had already posted a statement on their website.

“We apologize for the disruption caused by the sudden shutdown of ATA and regret the impact on passengers, employees, suppliers, and other parties. ATA customers should seek alternative arrangements for current and future travel.”

Actor Heath Ledger was found dead yesterday afternoon of a possible drug overdose in his SoHo apartment. Fellow Aussie Mel Gibson said, “I had such great hope for him. He was just taking off, and to lose his life at such a young age is a tragic loss.”

He was discovered by his housekeeper around 3pm and pronounced dead at 3:30pm. Ledger was found naked face down at the foot of his bed. There is speculation that he overdosed on sleeping pills that where found in the room with him. An autopsy is scheduled for today.

Ledger was co-staring in the soon to be released Dark Night, the sequel to Batman Begins. Ledger was reprising the famous role of The joker, played by Jack Nicholson in the original Batman. The world has been a buzz for news of the film. Speculation running wild as to who and how the role would be revived. Images of Ledger portraying The Joker have been seen everywhere. Dark Night maybe the most anticipated movie of the year, possibly even the decade!

Ledger was perhaps best known for his 2005 portrayal of Ennis Del Mar in Brokeback Mountain, about two cowboys who had a secret romantic relationship. The role earned him an Oscar nomination. This role also brought him to the attention of the GLBT Community. This wasn’t his first gay role. At 17 he played a gay cyclist on Sweat, a down-under TV series about elite athletes. He said he wanted that role because there were so few gays on television, he figured he could get some attention if he did the role justice.He was reportedly in negotiations to reprise his Brokeback Mountain role in a sequel, where Ennis Del Mar comes “out” to his family, friends and neighbors. That would have been a very
interesting movie.

This is my 2008 New Years resolution. Yeah, I know it’s a lil bit late. But better late than never, right? I have spent the last 13 days thinking about this post. I even had most of written. Then after yesterdays brake-up….

Why a resolution?

I need some focus and accountability in my life and writing. Things have been chaotic, to say the least. With all the medical crap, falling in love, moving out, moving in, getting ranked as a blogger, being stalked by a right-wing extremist, having my now blackened heart ripped out. Blah blah blah. I need a plan or at least route directions.
